Eyelid Surgery in Ormond Beach offers a way to combat the effects that aging has on the appearance of our eyelids. In the Central Florida community of Daytona Beach, Dr. Ashley K. Lentz performs eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) to restore a naturally youthful appearance to your eyes so they truly reflect how you feel inside.

"Communication is the most critical aspect of patient care. Results must match expectations. Without excellent communication, expectations cannot be matched. I spend a lot of time with my patients trying to determine what is the best operation for personal success and achievement of patient goals. "

We value eye contact because our eyes reveal so much about our personality and moods. When your eyes look vibrant and alert, they reflect how you feel inside. As you age, however, the skin and muscles around your eyes can lose elasticity, making them look tired, angry, or sad, even though you feel otherwise.

Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can do wonders for your appearance, making you look refreshed, younger, and more alert. It’s typically performed for men and women over 35, but can also be an option for younger people. While patients have unique reasons for wanting eyelid surgery, most do so to accomplish one or more of these goals:

  • Lift and tighten heavy, droopy upper eyelids
  • Remove excess tissue to eliminate under-eye bags or bulges
  • Smooth wrinkles, especially crow’s feet
  • Remove and lift skin on the upper lids to improve vision

Ideal Candidates for Eyelid Surgery

If you want to get rid of the bags under your eyes, then you may be a good candidate for eyelid surgery. You may also be recommended for this procedure if your drooping eyelids impair your vision. Additionally, you may undergo this surgery if you want to smooth away the deep wrinkles around your eyes.

It is an invasive surgery, so it is important to be in good overall health. Ideally, you should be a non-smoker. It is best to maintain a positive outlook regarding your results and to have realistic expectations.

Your Consultation

During your consultation with Dr. Ashley K. Lentz, they will carefully analyze your eye area and recommend either upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or a combination of both to rejuvenate the appearance of your eyes. In addition to eyelid surgery, they may suggest a brow lift, BOTOX® Cosmetic injections, dermal fillers, or laser treatment for optimal results. Rest assured that Dr. Ashley K. Lentz will utilize the 30+ years of experience and training to customize the perfect treatment plan just for you.

Your medical history will be discussed so that Dr. Lentz is aware of any underlying conditions and your current medications. You will be informed of your treatment plan, and if you have any questions, this is the best time to ask.

Every surgery carries the risk of a complication, including elective cosmetic surgery. Complications are rare, but they do occur. CosmetAssure provides you with insurance coverage in the unlikely event a complication occurs with a board certified plastic surgeon. CosmetAssure is a solution to the lack of coverage for medical complications that can occur during or after your surgery.

What to Expect

Dr. Ashley K. Lentz performs eyelid surgery as either an outpatient or inpatient in the hospital, staffed by highly trained surgery technicians. They prefer to use general anesthesia so you remain asleep throughout the procedure, although local anesthesia may be available. During the procedure to remove fat and excess skin Dr. Ashley K. Lentz carefully conceal incisions in your natural creases or along lash lines.

After eyelid surgery, you can expect to return to light activities within 7 to 10 days and resume your normal routine, including exercise, within 3 to 4 weeks.

Recovering from Eyelid Surgery

You will need a short recovery period after your eyelid surgery. You may experience temporary blurred or double vision, watering eyes, numbness, and/or sensitivity to light. These are common during the first few days but should disappear in time.

Applying ice packs on your eyes can help with the post-surgical bruising and swelling. Avoid strenuous exercises and heavy lifting to allow your incisions to fully heal.

Following eyelid surgery, most patients report a positive change in the way others respond to them because their inner vitality shows in their eyes. It’s no surprise then that eyelid surgery remains one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures for those who want to look refreshed, younger, and more alert.

Eyelid Surgery Cost

The cost of eyelid surgery varies due to the highly individualized approach of Dr. Lentz. The overall price will include the anesthesia, extent of work performed, and any additional surgical fees.
